Since May 2022 until June 2023, there is a cooperation project between the University of Johannesburg, Faculty of Jewellery Design and Manufacture, and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Business Scouts for Development, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The mentoring programme is designed and implemented by jewellery designer Martina Dempf, in close cooperation with Farieda Nazier (Head of Department), the department’s trainers and external partners, like the Nirox Foundation South Africa and others. Martina Dempf supervises and accompanies a group of post-gratuity students individually in design development, production and future career planning.
